Club Briefing: On the occasion of the BRICS Summit and the 10th anniversary of the New Development Bank (NDB), Beijing Club for International Dialogue conducted an exclusive interview with Paulo Nogueira Batista Jr, in Rio de Janeiro. Paulo expressed that he was “somewhat disappointed” with the NDB’s development over the past decade, noting that more progress should have been made in areas such as membership expansion, local currency settlement, and governance transparency. He emphasized that the BRICS framework is not “anti-Western,” but rather an effort to build a “post-Western” multilateral system.
